permission to paint is a trick. overcoming the old values, the work ethic, the what did you do all day? Earned a crust? Brought home the bacon? Hasn't he done well? What you spend all day looking at a picture? Which won't sell, but the children have no shoes on their feet. It is a strong man [or woman] who can overcome those pressures without branding themselves selfish, irresponsible and ineffectual. trying to further the cause is a dodgy business.
