the IT of it lies on the edge. nothing happens in the middle of the field, all is corn, but at the edge there are other grasses and brambles and dropped stones and discarded objects. The edge is a place where you can both cut yourself and discover hidden treasure, in the middle of the field all you can find is corn.

thousands of people have the skill, it is but the few who have the inspiration. But today there is another added quality, that of marketing and self-promotion. The three Bs: Bullshit Baffles Brains. Today, the artists have a modicum of creative skill and vast amounts of self esteem with which they push themselves confidently to the fore, with no thought of skill, or often content, letting mere shock suffice, to tickle the sensibilities of the viewers. Rather than attempting to reach a broader understanding of things via empathy.

IT is when inspiration meets skill. Inspiration can be lost without the ability to put it across. Skill with nothing to say is just breadmaking.
